Causes of bridge crane trolley gnawing rails

Overhead crane trolley rail gnawing refers to a phenomenon in which the wheel flange of the overhead crane trolley contacts the side of the rail, causing friction and wear during operation. The one-sided theoretical gap between the wheel flange and the side of the track can generally be set at 5-15mm. As long as the horizontal offset of the wheel is greater than this value during the operation of the crane trolley, rail gnawing will occur, which is the boundary condition of rail gnawing. When the rail gnawing is not serious, although the crane can continue to be used, the friction between the wheel flange and the rail will increase, which will affect the service life of some components and cause economic losses to the user. For large-span bridge cranes, due to factors such as manufacturing, trolleys are prone to rail gnawing accidents.

The reasons for the analysis of the trolley's gnawing track are as follows:

  1.  During the operation of the lifting trolley of the bridge crane, the tread of the wheel is severely worn or the bridge frame is deformed severely.
  2.  The diameters of the driving and driven wheels on both sides of the trolley are not equal (due to uneven production and wear). When the trolley is running, at the same speed, the strokes of the two sides are not equal. The car body is skewed and the track is gnawed
  3.  The installation position of the wheels is not accurate (the installation position of the four wheels is not on the four corners of the rectangle, and the center on the same side is not in a straight line), which can easily cause rail gnawing
  4.  The gauge is large at one end and small at the other end, and the parallelism of the two tracks is out of tolerance. When running on such a track, the gap between the rim and the track becomes smaller and smaller, until the inner rim gnaws the rail
  5.  The amount of track installation is not up to standard, the track has too large horizontal twists (the side straightness error is required to be no more than 2mm), and when the span is exceeded, the track will be gnawed.

In view of the rail gnawing problem of the bridge crane trolley, the problem should be solved according to the cause.

One is to correct the deformed bridge frame to correct the gnawing phenomenon. The other is to check whether the wheel set of the trolley has excessive diameter deviation and serious wear and tear of the wheel and replace it in time. The other is for the bridge type. The trolley drive structure of the crane is adjusted, and the trolley track is adjusted until the problem is solved.

Rail gnawing by the overhead crane trolley is a serious problem, which may cause the trolley to climb or derail. When it is found that the trolley is gnawing the track, it must be solved in time.
