To design two jib cranes that will safely operate in an outdoor freshwater environment. These cranes must be equipped to lift 6’ x 3’ x 4’ tanks of sockeye salmon and water weighing 9000 pounds.
Dongqi Crane manufactured two (2) 5 Ton Jib cranes featuring components such as: corrosion resistant fasteners, corrosion resistant coatings and stainless steel electrical enclosures (NEMA 4X). All gearing, including the drive motions and the gear rack, was designed with a minimum service factor of 2.0 for heavy duty service. In addition to the primary hoist holding brake, these cranes also employ secondary hoist holding brakes to operate directly on the drum. Both cranes have a sheet metal covering to protect their trolleys as well as remote controlled hook assemblies that can be opened or closed using the crane’s remote radio controller or pendant station.
The first of these two (2) jib cranes has a 36 foot hook reach which helps lift each 9000 pound tank out of the Lake Cushman fish collector facility, placing the tank atop Dam #1 onto a battery powered cart. Next the cart moves the tank off of Dam #1 and places it under our second crane, the Cart Hoist Jib Crane, equipped with a 13 foot hook reach. The Cart Hoist Jib Crane then lifts the tank onto a truck that will transport and release the salmon into the North Fork of the Skokomish River.
