Egypt to raise Suez Canal surcharge in May

مصر's "Enterprise" reported on March 23 that the Egyptian Suez Canal Authority recently announced that it will increase ship tolls from May. Among them, the toll surcharge for ships carrying crude oil and petroleum products will increase from the current 5% to 15%; the surcharge for loading and ballasting LPG, chemicals and other liquid bulk carriers will increase from 10% to 20%; the surcharge for loading and ballast dry bulk carriers will increase from 5% to 10%; the surcharge for other ships will increase from 7% to 14%. The Canal Authority said the decision was made against the backdrop of significant growth in global trade, development of the Suez Canal waterway and optimization of traffic services. It also said the surcharge is "temporary" and will be adjusted or eliminated based on global shipping conditions.

Dongqi Crane is concerned about this. The continuously increasing sea freight is already at a very high position, which has brought about a decrease in the order volume of European and American customers. The increase in the Suez Canal toll will inevitably lead to higher sea freight. As a Chinese crane manufacturer, Dongqi Crane provides various types of crane solutions to the world
