China's new energy vehicles are favored by the Central Asian market

The new energy vehicle industry in China has developed rapidly in recent years and is increasingly recognized by consumers at home and abroad. According to the relevant person in charge of the Eurasian Department of the Ministry of Commerce, in the first quarter of 2023, China's automobile exports to Central Asian countries reached $500 million, a year-on-year increase of 121%, with new energy vehicles particularly favored by Central Asian people.

On the occasion of the China Asia Summit, cooperation in the field of new energy vehicles between China and Central Asia has received widespread attention. At the second briefing of the China Central Asia Summit News Center held on May 17th, Ye Niuping, Vice Governor of Shaanxi Provincial Government and Acting Mayor of Xi'an Municipal Government, introduced that the development momentum of Xi'an's new energy vehicle industry is currently good and hopes to promote cooperation with Central Asian countries in the field of new energy vehicles.

In recent years, Xi'an City in Shaanxi Province has become a "rising star" on the new energy vehicle track. In 2022, the production of new energy vehicles in Xi'an reached 1.0155 million units, a year-on-year increase of 277.5%, accounting for 14.1% of the national share.

In order to meet the automobile export needs of local car companies in Shaanxi, China Railway Xi'an Bureau Group Co., Ltd., Xi'an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Co., Ltd., and China Railway Special Freight Xi'an Branch have collaborated to organize the development of a special transportation plan, adopting the special train form of commodity vehicles for railway transportation for export transportation.

The reporter learned from Xi'an Customs that from January to April 2023, trade between Shaanxi and Central Asia continued to maintain rapid growth, with import and export values reaching 1.05 billion yuan, an increase of 78.4% compared to the same period last year. Among them, the export of electric passenger vehicles reached 130 million yuan, an increase of 125 times.

On April 26, 2023, the China Europe train Chang'an, the 10th anniversary of the "the Belt and Road", will depart from Xi'an International Port Area, carrying more than 260 BYD new energy vehicles manufactured in Xi'an to Uzbekistan.

According to reports, as of May 16th, China Railway Xi'an Bureau Group Co., Ltd. has launched a total of 33 special trains for automobile exports this year, achieving normalized transportation. Central Asian consumers can purchase Chinese new energy vehicles faster and more conveniently.

When it comes to China's new energy vehicles, Uzbek media person Yodat, who came to attend the China Asia Summit, gave a thumbs up. He said that car brands such as BYD and Geely have good visibility and reputation in Central Asia.

The automotive industry is becoming an important area of cooperation between China and Central Asian countries. At the "Kazakhstan China Investment Roundtable Conference" held on the morning of the 18th, Yutong International, a subsidiary of Yutong Group, signed an agreement with Kazakhstan Kasjehna Company to jointly establish the Kazakhstan China Automotive Industry Technology and Engineering Personnel Training Center, aiming to enable Yutong and Kazakhstan's partners to jointly carry out talent cultivation in the automotive industry, Strengthen cooperation and experience exchange between the two sides in the development of Kazakhstan's automotive industry.

The reporter learned that in 2020, 100 Yutong pure electric buses were exported to Kazakhstan. As of now, this batch of pure electric buses with a driving range of over 200000 kilometers have successfully completed the challenge of ultimate endurance of 320 kilometers in Kazakhstan's extremely cold environment of -27 ℃.

The overseas responsible person of Yutong Bus said that, benefiting from the broad platform provided by the "the Belt and Road" initiative, Yutong's development in Kazakhstan has achieved good social benefits. In the future, Yutong will continue to plough into the Kazakhstan market and make new contributions to the joint construction of the green "the Belt and Road".
