Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar stated on the 7th that the cooperation between Malaysia and China in the automotive industry is of great significance, and Malaysia hopes to attract more Chinese enterprises to invest in this field.

Anwar attended the launch ceremony of the new Malaysian car brand Proton X90 in Kuala Lumpur on the same day. This is the first new energy vehicle of Proton, and also another SUV model launched by Chinese car companies Geely and Proton in the Malaysian market after the X70 and X50.

Anwar delivered a speech at the event, stating that the Malaysian government values the strategic position of the automotive industry in economic development and looks forward to Geely helping the country create more job opportunities and improve industrial technology. He also hopes that Geely and Proton can strengthen research and development cooperation to help Malaysia's automotive industry transition to the new energy sector. The Malaysian government is willing to take proactive measures to provide policy support for investment enterprises.

Li Shufu, Chairman of Geely Holdings Group, delivered a speech at the event, stating that Geely will collaborate with Proton in basic technology research, infrastructure development, supply chain construction, and other areas to create greater value for users. At the same time, they will work together with Proton to cultivate new energy vehicle talents and help Proton become a leader in new energy brands in the ASEAN region.

Proton is a Malaysian domestic automotive brand established in 1983. In 2017, Geely acquired 49.9% of Proton's shares and became an important partner.
