I dont know if the state of Ohio has any specific requirements but you definitely need to attend a training course and get tested in your theoretical and practical knowledge. My advice is to contact the NCCCO. Thats the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operations. Contact them at nccco.org

I don't know what the requirements are in Ohio, but I can tell you the requirements in China, if you want to be an overhead crane operator, you have to go through certain training, understand the structure of overhead cranes, be familiar with beam installation methods and through-hole construction The performance and operation of the personnel of the method; when working, the energy should be concentrated. You must have enough sleep, you are not allowed to doze off at work, and lifting operations after drinking are strictly prohibited; you must fasten your seat belts when working at heights.

2. Be in good health and meet the special physical requirements of the type of work applied for;

3. Have an educational level that is suitable for the type of special equipment application; the specific conditions should be implemented in accordance with the relevant safety technical specifications.

Legal basis: "Administrative Measures for the Assessment of Safety Technology Training for Special Operations Personnel"

Article 5 Special operators must complete theoretical study and practical training on safety technology that are suitable for their type of work before starting their own work independently.

Article 6 The unit responsible for the training of special operators shall have the corresponding qualifications, and shall be reviewed and approved by the comprehensive management department of production safety of the province, autonomous region, or municipality directly under the Central Government or its entrusted comprehensive management department of production safety at the prefectural or municipal level.
