Guangxi's import and export volume to ASEAN exceeded 100 billion yuan in the first four months of 2023

According to data provided by Nanning Customs on the 13th, Guangxi's foreign trade continued to improve in the first four months of 2023, with an import and export volume of 222.58 billion yuan (RMB, the same below), a year-on-year increase of 57.2%. Among them, the import and export volume to ASEAN reached 104.91 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 123%.

Among the major trading partners, Guangxi's import and export volume to Vietnam y Tailandia increased by 139% and 196% respectively year-on-year; The import and export volumes to the League of Arab States and African countries were 16.07 billion yuan and 11.1 billion yuan respectively, with year-on-year growth rates exceeding 40%. Guangxi has achieved steady growth in imports and exports to Hong Kong, China, as well as to the Estados Unidos y Australia.

It is worth mentioning that with the implementation of "Class B and Class B control" for novel coronavirus infection in China, the border ports in Guangxi have regained vitality and Border trade has accelerated its recovery. From January to April this year, the small border trade and border mutual trade in Guangxi reached 25.22 billion yuan and 13.33 billion yuan, respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 110.9% and 423.2%.

In the first four months of this year, 11 cities in Guangxi, including Chongzuo, Nanning, and Fangchenggang, achieved positive growth in import and export volume, with Chongzuo, Baise, and Hezhou experiencing a doubling in import and export volume.

Nanning Customs believes that the rapid growth of Guangxi's foreign trade is also due to the continuous release of policy dividends under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP). In the first four months of this year, Guangxi's imports and exports to RCEP member countries amounted to 119.21 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 107.9%, driving a 43.7 percentage point increase in Guangxi's foreign trade during the same period. The import and export volume of Guangxi's electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry, chemical raw material and chemical product manufacturing industry, and textile, clothing, and clothing industry have all doubled.

The relevant person in charge of the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region stated that in the future, Guangxi will continue to tap into the potential of foreign trade, increase the organization of foreign trade sources through multiple channels, and ensure the export of key products such as new energy vehicles and lithium batteries. At the same time, we will strengthen the security of customs clearance services, maintain the growth momentum of Border trade, increase the pilot intensity of maritime exchanges, and increase the number and value of imported goods.
