Paceco Momentum Continues Port Of Miami Crane Management Digitalisation

Port of Miami Crane Management (PMCM) is to continue the digital transformation of its business by installing Paceco Momentum’s digitalisation tool – the Paceco Spyder – on three ship-to-shore (STS) cranes.

A further two cranes will get the system at a later date, to go with the six STS cranes that had the tool installed back in 2020, taking the total number of cranes featuring the Paceco Spyder system to 11.

The Paceco Spyder is able to offer a number of features, such as a real-time crane working view, which produces data on, for example, container movement, brake status, electrical consumption and movement cycles. Real-time information about complete asset status provides maintenance alarms information, for instance, while the system will also generate automated customised operational and technical reports on a range of key performance indicators within daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports.

PMCM says it has experienced an increase in data awareness and a tangible improvement in data scope and quality due to beginning its terminal digitalisation.

Now the second most efficient port in North America and the most efficient in Florida, according to the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence Container Port Performance Index 2021, PMCM said that a complete digital transformation will, thanks to 5G, be achieved through process automation and the latest artificial intelligence technology, creating an artificial neural network (ANN) in which all areas and elements of terminal management converge to optimise the terminal operations and management.

Paceco Group has also introduced a hydrogen fuel cell for transtainer Grúas pórtico con neumáticos de caucho (RTG) to the European market.

In partnership with its parent company Mitsui E&S Machinery, the company received a grant from the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), a Japanese public research and development body that aims to revolutionise the ecological transition in the cargo handling industry.
