To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, Cambodge and China have designated 2023 as the "Cambodia-China Friendship Year". Over the past 65 years, the two countries have forged an unbreakable iron friendship, experienced ups and downs together, and overcome all kinds of difficulties and dangers.

Cambodia-China friendship is rooted in the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence: mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence. The two countries are working together to address common global challenges, strengthen exchanges at all levels and platforms, and deepen mutual understanding to ensure continued great achievements at the national, regional, and global levels.

At the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen paid an official visit to China from February 9th to 11th. This is Prime Minister Hun Sen's first visit to China since February 2020. The spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated at a regular press conference a few days ago that China and Cambodia are traditionally friendly neighbors and staunch friends.

Prime Minister Hun Sen's last visit to China was in February 2020. At that time, the epidemic situation in both countries was very severe. He demonstrated Cambodia's strong support for China with practical actions. This time, Hun Sen is the first foreign leader to visit China after the Lunar New Year in 2023.

Both sides are very optimistic that Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit will promote cooperation between the two countries and deepen development in various fields. The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation emphasized that Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit to China will create opportunities to promote the two governments to further promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the "Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement", promote the construction of a Cambodia-China community of shared future, and benefit the two peoples.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning also spoke highly of Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit to China. She pointed out that China looks forward to taking this visit as an opportunity to promote greater development in the construction of a China-Cambodia community with a shared future and to pass on the friendship between China and Cambodia from generation to generation.

Cambodia and China are consistent in their words and deeds, stand together through thick and thin, attach great importance to maintaining genuine multilateralism and the democratization of international relations, and promote the development of global governance in a more just and reasonable direction. The two countries also firmly uphold the basic norms of international relations and international fairness and justice, and oppose all forms of hegemonism, power politics, unilateralism and exclusive practices, Cold War mentality, interference in other countries' internal affairs and double standards.

Cambodia firmly adheres to the one-China policy and opposes any words or deeds that damage China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, any separatist activities that create "Taiwan independence", and any form of external interference. Cambodia supports China's all efforts to safeguard its core interests and realize national reunification.

Cambodia highly supports and actively participates in China's global development initiative, which is in line with China's commitment to implement the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Cambodia also supports China's global security initiative and is willing to work with China on global security governance to promote the realization of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security.

The Cambodia-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership will not prevent Cambodia from maintaining good relations with other countries, nor will it put Cambodia in danger. The healthy relationship between the two countries should always be based on equal rights and equal status, respect each other's interests, and adhere to the principle of non-interference.

The special and unbreakable relationship between Cambodia and China has set a "unique example" for the relationship between countries, and countries in the region and even the world can follow suit. In the Cambodia-China Friendship Year, the firm commitment and great efforts made by the leaders and people of the two countries have consolidated a consensus that building a Cambodia-China community with a shared future is feasible.
