Lift Turn Move Introduces GIS GPM to UK

Lift Turn Move (LTM), the Wirral, Royaume-UNI-based firm, has launched the new GIS GPM electric chain hoist.

Capable of handling lifting capacities from 80kg to 250kg, the new hoist is the latest product from Schötz, La suisse manufacturer GIS.

The GPM, which weighs only 14kg, is designed to fit under the company's existing capacity ranges, which will eventually reach to 6.3t capacity.

Featuring a helically geared, 3-step drive, the quiet-running GPM has a long-working life and is suited for outdoor use thanks to its standard protection class IP65.

Hidden inside the chain hoist are shaft-hub connections that built to a polygonal design, which is claimed to his enable "significantly faster disassembly and reassembly" during maintenance.

The GPM hoists can be specified with a range of accessories with the user able to choose between eye or hook suspension. Lifting height can be increased up to 90 metres, if required.

Shaft-hub connections are built with a polygonal design that is said to allow significantly faster disassembly and assembly during maintenance and reduced service costs.

Protection class IP65 is standard to the GIS GPM electric chain hoist that is protected against dust and water, which makes it suitable for mobile and outdoor use.

In addition, a number of accessories and options are available including eye- and hook-suspension while the electrical power connection can be either three- or single-phase while there is a choice of different dual lifting speeds.

David King, LTM operations director, explains: "We are delighted to add the GIS GPM electric chain hoist to our extensive product offering. This is the fourth generation electric chain hoist from GIS, developed over 50 years of manufacturing.

"GIS is a specialist in the design and manufacture of hoists suited to the most demanding environments in both industrial applications and the entertainment industry."

He added: "The product complements our existing range and creates new opportunities for our clients."

Earlier this year, entertainment equipment supplier White Light praised Lift Turn Move's LTM's Guardian G-PRO fixed speed chain motor controller range

The London-based company, which is a UK distribution outlet for LTM entertainment-based product ranges, said the G-PRO range had been a success with its customers.

"You can tell a lot of thought has gone into thinking how to make it intelligent and capable yet more importantly incredibly simple to use," said Dave Isherwood, hire and technical director for White Light. "Generally the rental customers think that the units are simple and robust, especially on the tour circuit."

The chain motor controller range is manufactured in a rugged enclosure and is designed suited for use in any demanding touring environment. It facilitates 4, 8 or 12 channels of linkable of low voltage control and there is an optional load cell alarm input / link to an external E-stop loop.

Isherwood added: "With self-error checking, automatic phase correcting and voltage checking as standard, a lot of the headaches usually encountered with hoist power onsite are eliminated.

"Operating a rental fleet where units may go out in singles or groups, the controllers are easily linked together to create a larger system via a simple XLR cable. As they use data communication between the G-PROs, standard safety features include the fact that any E-stop can be triggered no matter where they are in the chain, plus external E-stop loops or E-stop triggers can be added for load cell monitoring products."
