Pump it up: Jaso cranes for wastewater plant

Espagne-based crane manufacturer Jaso has completed a turnkey project at a new pumping station in L'équateur, involving the installation of three overhead cranes.

Acciona, a global provider of sustainable solutions, contracted Jaso for the cranes at its La Pradera Pumping Station (EBAR) in the city of Guayaquil. The new pumping station will form part of the future Las Esclusas Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), which will improve the city’s sanitary sewer system.

The turnkey project involved the design, building, assembly and commissioning of the hoisting equipment.

The new station currently has three single-girder overhead cranes from Jaso. These comprise a 5t overhead crane with a span of 2.8m and a clamshell bucket for the removal of waste found in the screening chamber; and a 3.2t model and a 10t model with spans of 10.5m and 16.5m, both of which are already in service performing assembly and maintenance work on the water pumps.

Jaso is able to provide Acciona with ongoing maintenance via the company’s local technical support services in Guayaquil.
