Spanyol-based Jaso has manufactured five cranes for a new wind turbine plant in Argentina, through its Gruapa SRL production centre in the South American country.
The five cranes were produced for Nordex Acciona Windpower for its new wind turbine assembly plant located in the province of Córdoba, belonging to Fábrica de Argentina de Aviones (FAdeA). FAdeA ventured into the wind energy sector in 2019, manufacturing and supplying wind turbines to the country’s main wind farms—the Córdoba plant will produce around 150 wind turbines a year.
Jaso’s Gruapa SRL facility manufactured and installed five large-capacity semi-automatic cranes: one single girder overhead crane and four double girder gantry cranes, with lifting capacities between 40–75t and with spans of 25m. The cranes will be used to assist the manufacture of the roofing that covers the components of a wind turbine, as well as the manufacture of the wind turbine components.
The cranes were adapted to the layout of the premises and electrically developed for the production process, said Jaso. The company added safety systems to enable the moving and rotating of parts weighing more than 70t, and the transportation of loads of up to 150t during the assembly process.
