Columbus McKinnon Lodestar redesigned for a quick fix

Columbus McKinnon has announced that it is adding new features and design improvements to its Lodestar Electric Chain Hoist for easier maintenance.

Amherst, New York-based Columbus McKinnon said the overload clutch will from now on be located outside the transmission, and provide easier access for maintenance service people.

As the clutch will be outside of the load path, operators will have better control in the event of an overload. A five-pocket liftwheel is intended to reduce chain wear, and a redesigned control panel allows ease of access.

The improved Lodestar will use a lightweight, cast aluminum housing. The housing will be powder-coated finish to enhance visibility.

With a standard lifting capacity range of 1/8–3USt at various speeds, the product is made domestically in the 米国, Columbus McKinnon said.

For user-friendly configuration and set up, the hoist features finger-safe wiring and plug-and-play connectors, with a control panel allowing for quick voltage change, terminal strip access and ease of fuse installation.

An adjustable limit switch prevents over-travelling of the load and a built in overload protection feature prevents overloading.

Maintaining the hoist is also relatively simple thanks to the Lodestar’s lifetime grease-lubricated gear box. Changing and disposing of hazardous oil is not required.
