Common pulley failures and solutions for cranes

Pulley is a kind of wear part on crane . It often works with wire rope to change the direction of wire rope force, increase the number of stressed wire ropes, and reduce the weight of the object on the wire rope. In the daily use of the crane, always check the usage of the pulley. The editor introduces the common faults and solutions of the crane pulley.

Common faults of pulleys :

1. Uneven wear of pulley rope groove

2. The wear of the pulley mandrel reaches 3%～5% of the nominal diameter

3. The pulley won't turn

4. The pulley is tilted and loose

5. Pulley cracks or broken rims

Causes of pulley failure

1. Uneven materials, substandard installation, poor contact between ropes and wheels

2. Spindle damage

3. Increased wear of mandrel and wire rope

4. Loose positioning parts on the shaft, or rope skipping

5. Pulley damage

Troubleshooting

1. The wear of the wheel groove wall reaches 1/10 of the original thickness, and it should be replaced when the radial wear reaches 1/4 of the rope diameter.
