Saudi Arabia announces plans for five renewable energy projects

The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) plans to launch five new renewable energy projects across the country with a total installed capacity of 3,300 megawatts as part of the fourth phase of the country's National Renewable Energy Program project.

Of the projects, three will use wind power, while the other two will use solar power, SPPC, which is the main buyer, said.

The Saudi group said the wind energy projects, once commissioned, will generate a total of 1,800 megawatts (700 megawatts from the Yanbu facility, 600 megawatts from the Al Ghat plant, and 500 megawatts from the Waad Al Shamal facility). , while the total output of solar projects will reach 1,500 MW, which will be allocated to its 1,100 MW Al Henakiyah project and 400 MW Tubarjal project.

The SPPC said the launch of the projects is part of the National Renewable Energy Plan, a key initiative implemented under the oversight of the Department of Energy.

The plan aims to help サウジアラビア achieve its net-zero target through an optimal energy mix of renewables and natural gas (50% each) and replace the fuel used for power generation by 2030, in order to meet the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 .
