In early May, the scorching sun in Малайзия, the landmark project of the "the Belt and Road" jointly built by China and Malaysia - Malaysia East Coast Railway (Malaysia East Railway) was in full swing. Ten youth assault teams composed of employees from China and Malaysia are active at the construction site along the Malaysia East Railway, which is over 600 kilometers long. The first branch of the Ma Dong Railway project is located in the state of Gilantan, and the first youth assault team of the project was established in July 2017. Zhang Tan, 33, the team leader, is the deputy manager of the project management department of the first division. Before coming to Malaysia, he had participated in the construction of the "the Belt and Road" project in Africa.

When the reporter met Zhang Tan, he was checking the progress with the technical supervisor Deng Youzhi at the beam making yard - the production in the steel processing area and beam making area was in full swing, and over a hundred precast concrete simply supported T-beams were orderly stored and waiting to be erected on the bridge piers.

Zhang Tan said that although the beam yard is an auxiliary project in railway construction, it plays a crucial role. The quality, efficiency, and timely supply of beam types required for construction in the beam yard determine whether the laying and erection work of railway engineering can be completed on time and whether the total project duration can be smoothly achieved.

The construction sites where our assault team members are located are all key routes for the entire project progress, and each assault team member plays a crucial role. Zhang Tan said that in the late arrival of equipment, they overcame difficulties and built while producing, achieving full power to date.

The Malaysia East Railway is constructed by China Communications Construction Group Co., Ltd. (CCCC) and is regarded as a "road bridge" connecting the east and west coasts of Malaysia. After completion, it is expected to drive the economic development of Malaysia's east coast region and greatly improve the connectivity level of the areas along the line.

Ye Xiaoyang, Deputy General Manager of China Communications Construction Corporation's Madong Railway Project, told reporters that 2023 will be the peak of civil engineering construction for the Madong Railway project, with an expected workforce of over 20000 on the entire line. The project consists of ten youth assault teams with a total of 223 people, including 185 people aged 35 and under, distributed in important work sites in various branches.

Deng Youzhi comes from Sichuan and is the technical supervisor of the beam manufacturing plant. He spent all day soaking in the beam yard, his white short sleeves stained with sweat and mud. Although he has been working on the project for less than half a year, his proposed upgrade process has helped save labor and improve efficiency.

At a branch beam yard, the reporter also met Deng Dewei, a young Malaysian employee. He was born in the state of Gilantan and joined the Malaysia East Railway project after graduating from the University of Malaya. He is now an engineer in the engineering management department of a branch.

I still remember when the first pile was driven, I was on site. Over the past two years, I had a lot of feelings. Apart from self-improvement, I also watched the project continue to move forward, and we were getting closer and closer to our goal, "Deng Dewei said proudly.

Over the past two years, under the leadership of Chinese masters, Deng Dewei has also deeply integrated into this job. He said that the Ma Dong Railway has brought more job opportunities to the local area, and he has met many alumni in the project. I believe that after the completion of the project, it will bring more convenient transportation and opportunities to my hometown.

Ye Xiaoyang said that the project has entered an accelerated construction period and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. At present, the morale of all young employees is high and their fighting spirit is high, which fully demonstrates the spirit of being idealistic, bold, hardworking, and willing to struggle. Actions are taken to promote the efficient and high-quality development of project construction and make youth shine in the "the Belt and Road".
