A EUR 1.2M contract to supply a 70/12/5.5t double girder crane for a Russian power plant located in the Ural Mountains has been won by a South African crane manufacturer.
Manufacturer Condra's Bulgarian premises took the order for what the firm says will be one of the largest cranes it has ever delivered.
The crane has a 38m span served by the main hoist and two auxiliary hoists, and will achieve a maximum lift height of 28m. Condra says it will achieve lift speeds of up to 12m/min and travelling speeds of 6m/min thanks to variable frequency drives fitted to its motors.
Condra managing director Marc Kleiner said: "It will be manufactured at our Germiston works because of machine complexity. From there it will be shipped in sections to Condra Bulgaria, which will then route the crane via Moscow to the Ural Mountains for fabrication under the supervision of one of our installation crews."
