There is no universal lifting system that works for every single situation. Still, each system (vacuum, magnetization, clamps, etc.) is better for a specific operation and type of material and worse for another.
Vacuum sheet lifters are just one more of our lifting and handling systems, and there are many types according to their use or design: pneumatic vacuum lifters, overhead vacuum systems, steel sheet lifters, material handling vacuum lifters, etc.
Need to solve
The manufacturer required for this project to improve the handling and transportation of the steel plates assuring safety regulations.
INITIAL SITUATION
Handling & Engineering Project for a UK Producer.
Initial situation description
Airpes designed and manufactured 2 beams equipped with vacuum systems composed of 64 suction pads to ensure a correct positioning and grip for a safe transport.
A vacuum sheet lifter offers several interesting advantages over other lifting systems. Let’s take a look.
Easy to install
Installing and starting a vacuum sheet lifter is faster than other, more complex systems requiring specialized machinery.
Very economical replacements and spare parts
We build a vacuum sheet lifter system. We design it using parts, components, and materials that are easy to find. These parts can be quickly and easily replaced if they deteriorate or during maintenance.
Simpler servicings than other, more complex systems
Maintaining a vacuum sheet lifter system is quick and easy. The mechanics and maintenance team from your company can take care of it. They should follow the instructions and steps outlined in the Crosby Airpes manuals and technical factsheets.
You can lift any material
Steel, plastic, glass, wood, etc. No matter what type of material is involved, you can lift them with the same system without making radical changes in the installation as long as the load meets the standards of weight, porosity, and maximum measurements established during the design phase.
A vacuum sheet lifter system will not be helpful in some cases. We do not recommend using vacuum sheet lifters in the following two situations. It is better to use one of our lifting systems instead.
You can’t lift heavy weights
Although the load offers flat, non-porous surfaces where a vacuum cup can stick firmly, sometimes, these pieces weigh several tons. Using magnetized systems for metals, lifting tongs, scissor lifting tongs, and sheet lifters is better.
Vacuum lifters do not allow to elevate of porous materials
If the material’s surface is not smooth, the vacuum pad cannot create the needed suction to lift the material. We will look for a system that can lift the load and adapts to your company’s installation and crane.
