Alberto Siegel, president of the Colchagua Valley Winery Association of ชิลี, said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that China is an important market for Chilean wine and has great potential for growth.
The Colchagua Valley Winery Association recently jointly held the annual grape harvest festival with the city of Santa Cruz in the Oygens region of Chile. Siegel told reporters at the event that Chile is the second largest source country of imported wine from China. Chinese consumers understand the quality of Chilean wine and have a high acceptance of Chilean wine. At the same time, Chile and China have friendly relations, which is very beneficial to the promotion of Chilean products in China.
Siegel said: "At present, the per capita consumption of wine in China is not high, and there is a large population. We firmly believe that the Chinese market has great growth potential."
"As China optimizes and adjusts its epidemic prevention and control measures, it is time for us to resume business travel to China and participate in various industry exhibitions." Siegel said that many Chilean businessmen will participate in the sugar and wine trade fair held in Chengdu, China, in April this year.
According to the statistics of Chile Wine Association, Chile's bottled wine exports to China will account for about 15% of the total exports in 2022. In terms of export volume, China is the largest export destination of Chilean wine.
Colchagua Valley is one of the main grape producing areas in Chile, which is located in the Oygens region in the central part of the country. The grape planting area is about 20000 hectares. It is mainly planted with grape varieties such as Carmena, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and is the birthplace of wine tourism in Chile.
