Requirements for crane drivers and operators

The cranes used by enterprises, especially large-tonnage double-beam bridge cranes and double-beam gantry cranes , should establish a complete management system. During operation, professional staff should be used to operate them, and inexperienced personnel are prohibited from operating. The editor of our factory will share with you the basic requirements for the driver and operator to operate the crane.

1. Driver

The operation of the crane should only be carried out by the following persons:

• a. Drivers who have passed the examination;
• b. Trainees such as apprentices who have studied for more than half a year under the direct supervision of the driver;
• c. Maintenance and inspection personnel who need to perform operations in order to perform tasks;
• d. A labor safety inspector appointed by a superior.

2. The driver should meet the following conditions:

• a. Be at least 18 years old and in good health;
• b. Visual acuity (including corrected visual acuity) is above 0.7, without color blindness;
• c. Listening should meet the requirements of specific working conditions.

3. The driver should be familiar with the following knowledge:

• a. The structure and technical performance of each mechanism of the crane to be operated;
• b. Crane operating regulations , this regulation and related laws and regulations;
• c. Safe operation requirements;
• d. The performance of safety and protective devices;
• e. Basic knowledge of prime mover and electrical aspects;
• f. Command signal ;
• g. Maintenance and basic maintenance knowledge.

General requirements for safe operation of cranes

• a. When the driver takes over, check the brakes, hooks, wire ropes and safety devices. When the performance is found to be abnormal, it should be ruled out before operation;
• b. Before driving, you must ring the bell or report to the police. When approaching people during operation, an intermittent ringtone or alarm should also be given;
• c. The operation should be carried out according to the command signal. For emergency stop signals, no matter who sends them, they should be executed immediately;
• d. When it is confirmed that no one is on or around the crane, the main power can be turned on. If the power supply disconnecting device is locked or has a label, the main power supply can be turned on only after it is removed by the relevant personnel;
• e. Before turning on the main power, all controller handles should be set to zero;
• f. When there is a sudden power failure during work, all controller handle boards should be returned to the zero position; before restarting work, check whether the crane movement is normal;
• g. For cranes operating in the open air on the track, when the work is over, the crane should be anchored. When the wind force is greater than level 6, the work should generally be stopped and the crane should be anchored. For gantry cranes and other cranes that work along the coast, when the wind force is greater than 7, stop working and anchor the crane;
• h. When the driver is performing maintenance, he should cut off the main power supply and put up a sign or lock it. If there is an unresolved fault, the driver should be notified.

Cranes are special equipment, and the drivers who operate the cranes are also very responsible. In the production process of the enterprise, operators who meet the above qualifications are selected to perform crane-related operations. And strictly abide by the operating procedures.
