The Difference between Overhead Crane and Gantry Crane

The difference between an overhead crane and a gantry crane is that the crane girders are attached to the legs of the gantry so that they can run without runway beams and columns. Need a ladder and handrails connected to at least at one of the leg to climb the gantry.

Differences in application scenarios

Overhead Cranes are widely used in indoor areas or inside the buildings. While gantry cranes are more widely used in outdoor areas or outside the buildings. Overhead cranes can be installed by utilizing the building’s column construction so that they are able to serve most of the areas in the building. Due to its considerable advantages in terms of capacity and area that can be served, Overhead Cranes are widely used in industries, from workshops, factories, mines, to power plants.
