German car manufacturers have fallen behind China's automotive industry

On April 18th, Swiss national radio and television commented on the Shanghai Auto Show that established automakers, especially German automakers, have gradually fallen behind internationally, and the future of electric vehicles has already been determined by other brands, especially some Chinese car companies and the rising Tesla.

According to the report, China realized many years ago that European, Japanese, and American automakers had a significant advantage in leading their domestic industry in the field of fuel engines. However, at that time, the emerging electric vehicle industry was undergoing a reshuffle. China seized this opportunity and relied on its industrial policies to keep its current technology in a leading position. Batteries are the heart of electric vehicles, and both in terms of quantity and technology, Chinese and Asian battery suppliers dominate the global market today.

For a long time, Western established car companies have failed to establish their own supply chain, and in 2015, Mercedes decided to sell its only battery factory. Tesla and BYD have long understood that batteries are the core of electric vehicles, so they have taken control of battery production in their own hands.

European manufacturers are also making every effort to establish their own battery factories, but this still takes time. Tesla and BYD are constantly expanding their leading edge over established car companies. In China, the world's largest automotive market, people need smaller and relatively inexpensive electric vehicles. But electric cars from Volkswagen, Mercedes, and BMW are large, heavy, and expensive.
