What does 20/5T mean in 20/5T hook bridge crane

Hook bridge cranes generally refer to double girder bridge cranes. Double girder bridge cranes over 16 tons generally have two sets of lifting systems: the main lifting system and the auxiliary lifting system, which can also be called the main hook and Vice hook.

Under normal circumstances, the main hook has a large lifting tonnage, a slower lifting speed, and low efficiency; a secondary hook has a small lifting tonnage, a faster lifting speed, and high efficiency. The specification 20/5 of the bridge crane means that the rated lifting capacity of the main hook of the crane is 20 tons, and the rated lifting capacity of the auxiliary hook is 5 tons. The two hooks of the crane are generally operated separately, and under special circumstances, the main and auxiliary hooks can also be used together to complete the operation process together.

The large-tonnage double-beam bridge crane is equipped with two sets of lifting systems as a standard configuration, which can be used in most occasions to meet different application requirements.

The crane operating regulations stipulate:

1.  For cranes with two hooks, when the main and auxiliary hooks are switched and the heights of the two hooks are similar, they must work separately, one hook and one hook, so as to avoid collision between the two hooks.
2.  For cranes with two hooks, two hooks are not allowed to lift two objects at the same time. The non-working hook must be raised to a height close to the limit position, and no wire rope is allowed to hang on the hook.
